Wearing stockings in bed

– I wear stockings and suspenders every day for work, but I also wear them in bed every night without fail. My partner loves this of course, but I do it because I just love the look and feel. I would just like to stress that I by no means put on stockings soley for salacious purposes but genuinely because I adore the look and feel in bed. I love them during the day too but for different reasons, comfort, mild flirtation etc. I wear them every night without fail! I know that there will be people reading this post thinking ” yeah right… “, but it is all true. Discuss!

– You are a dream come true! Your partner is very, very, very lucky!

– You’re not the only one who loves to wear stockings and suspenders to bed, I used to live with a woman years ago who had the same thoughts that you have. Best of all, I just loved the way her stockings would feel against my naked body as we slept together, I was under constant arousal… I sure miss that today.

– I have always loved/fantasised about the concept. It’s incredibly alluring and arousing. This is one of the traits of what I have always considered the ‘ultimate woman’. The next best is when a woman wakes up in the morning, and immediately dons her RHTs, wearing them under her nightgown and housecoat as she goes about her early morning routine, preparing breakfast, etc. – she just can’t bear (pun?) to walk around without her stockings.

– My partner frequently used to and it was heaven – keep it up! It’s good to hear there are girls that think like you around!

– Whenever my fiancee wears stockings (usually about three times a week) she always keeps them on to come to bed! However, I do recall one time when one of the metal adjuster clips on her suspender belt gave me a nasty nick in my old boy! Still it reinstates my Morning Glory when I wake up with the mother of all hangovers on a Sunday!

– I’ve been wearing stockings to bed for a few years now. Before bed, I remove the good pair I wore that day and don an older pair. Usually it’s the older pairs that have been worn and gone through the wash a few too many times. I also have three garterbelts that I also set aside for sleep wear. Again, they are a bit tattered and have been sewn and repaired several times. But also, on occasion, I wear a good pair during a romp with my b/f and keep them on over night.

I wear stockings in bed once in a while, but not all the time. I have an allergy to the plastic that the garter is made out of and when it is against my skin too long I get a reaction. Plus I save wearing stockings to bed for those times when my husband and I have extra time together. Then I wear my pink silk nightgown and FF stockings with my six strap garter belt and I love the feeling.

What do you like best about wearing stockings?

– Dear ladies and gentleman of the forum. What do you like best about wearing stockings? I find I love the feel of FF stockings. They are so silky soft they are a real treat to my legs. I also love the pull of the garters on my stockings. Does anyone else find this to be what they like best about wearing stockings?

– I would be other than a true gartered nylon stocking-clad legman were I to fail to respond to your inquiry. While I agree with both the quality and effect to which you allude regarding gartered nylon stockings, I would add that the utter allure of the touch-me shine of the nylon stocking is absolutely mesmerising. In addition, the virtual complete lack of stretch in the fabric renders a woman’s encased legs molded, firm and solid.

To slowly and passionately caress the well-proportioned, full, supple, shapely contours of a woman’s legs sheathed in smooth, very, very sheer, nylon stockings is an act in which I can engage for h o u r s…

– Thanks for responding, it’s good to hear what the men like about stockings. Come to think of it, I do like the shine of the FFs on my legs and often do touch my legs a great deal when sitting. I have noticed that the FF stockings outshine all others. The softness is my greatest attraction, I just can’t get over how soft and silky they feel on my legs. Then add to that the pull of the garters and it’s great. I think my husband’s reaction to the FF stockings is he likes the seams. I’ve noticed on a few occasions that he walks slightly behind me at times when I have on my FF stockings.

– As for another male’s opioion… I love to see stockings on a lady when she is outside and the sun is shining on her legs. The sun makes the nylon glisten, and that is just so sexy. Seeing a nyloned leg just glistening in the sun is fantastic. I just can’t keep my eyes off of them.

– I’m glad you mentioned the pull of the suspenders/garters. It must be a very sensual and delightful sensation. Do any of the other women members feel the same? As a man, I could mention the wonderful variety of textures – e.g. the fine stocking, the soft flesh of the thighs, the elastic and metal clasps of the suspenders (if the older type of suspender is worn, as it should); all in such a small area. Pantyhose or bare legs can’t match it! Also visually, the general colour of the stocking, the two-tone effect of the welt, the curve of the suspenders over the buttocks and thighs, and the arc created by the tug of taut suspenders… But one could go on and on!

– Some years ago one of the girl models in our English men’s magazine Mayfair said that she found that having stockings and suspenders on made her feel “very fruity” because she knew that underneath her skirt there was the uncovered gap between the tops of the stockings and her panties. I found this sexier than the pictures, even though she looked cute in her sussies. I suppose that it gave her an improper feeling of nudity in public. My former girlfriend said she felt funny when she first sat down in suspenders but later on rather enjoyed the pulling of the rear straps. She also enjoyed the “unprotected” feeling of wearing very wispy see-through panties with suspenders.

– I have to say the bumps. I run my hands down my legs as well for the smooth feel, but my favourite thing about stockings and suspenders is the bumps. It’s a comfort feeling to thumb them through my skirt. I’m only afraid that my skirts will develop faded bump circles, kind of like wallet-pocket…

I’m a guy who has worn stockings under business wear in cooler weather for decades. I love all of the things mentioned by the posters. I love the feel in the morning as I pull the long filmy stockings up first one leg and then the other, and then fastening the six garters tautly. I love the way the garters pull on the stockings, and the feel of the straps as they move with each step. I love the gentle leg massage that only comes with a gartered stocking. And finally, I love the wonderful feeling that under my clothing, I’m wearing stockings, and nobody knows.

The man who will only date women in nylon

– Dear Doctors Nylon out there: what am I to do? It appears I will only ask out women who wear nylon. Recently I eschewed making an approach to a couple of quite attractive women. The reason? Their ungodly bare legs. And, as more and more women adopt the bare legs look, this obviously narrows the field for the kind of women I will go out with. Still, I persevere. Believe it or not, there are still a few women out there who coat their legs in sheer nylon. And I will continue – almost quixotic like – in my quest for them.

– May I assume that, in the best of all worlds, you would only date women who wore stockings? So, I am taking from your post that you will face reality and accept that such women are exceedingly rare these days. (I am told that these goddesses comprise about 2% to 5% of the general female population.) You, like so many of us, have decided that to have a love life at all you will choose to date women who wear “nylons” of any ilk, i.e. tights and avoid women who are bare-legged. There, now I think I’ve got your point. Right?

My comment is as follows; I think you have it backwards. Instead of looking at the legs to determine their covering or lack thereof prior to making a dating decision, look instead at the total package and then determine if there is a real attraction.

Suppose you found an exceptionally attractive (intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, physically) young lady who shared your general interests, tastes and pastimes. Suppose this woman was always barelegged. But, in all other respects, she was quite outstanding. Choosing not to date her simply because she was not nylonically enlightened would be cruel. Indeed, this woman is a potential convert. You have a mission my friend to spread the good news!

From my personal experience it may be easier than you think. I am currently dating a Russian woman who never wore stockings. She was barelegged the first time I saw her. She is now completely enlightened and a strong advocate of our mutual fetish. She wears stockings every day. I have had similar experiences with several ladies. But, I have found that it is far easier to persuade foreign women to wear stockings than the domestic variety, at least here in the USA.

But, avoid a woman who will wear stockings only as a favour to you. This may seem like kindness and love on her part at first but it will soon become bartering. She will soon try to “trade” wearing stockings for some other consideration or concession on your part. And, you will soon find that the price of having her in stockings is quite high, maybe too high. Avoid these women. They keep score. You can never win. Besides, there are more than enough women out there who, once used to the joys of stockings, truly want to wear them for themselves. These are the best kind.

By the way, breaking up with a woman you have introduced to stockings is one of the worst break-ups of all. You lose a confirmed stockings wearer, a great little lovemaker, an accomplished flirt and you just know that some other man is going to enjoy her nyloned charms without having earned it. You also know how much easier it will be for her to attract a man once he sees that stockinged leg and bit of thigh. No woman teases like a woman in stockings. It changes her entire outlook. She reeks of self-confidence.

– My god, you could not make more sense!

– I don’t know… honestly, I’ve never had any trouble with getting the woman in my life to wear stockings and a garterbelt. All I’ve ever had to do is ask them and/or buy them some beautiful items… and voila!

For everyday, no… some of the women I’ve been involved with had jobs where it wasn’t practical but for the most part, no problem really.

– Thanks for your replies. To clarify, I am referring to nylons generally, not just stockings (in that case I’d pretty well never find anyone!). I agree that this is certainly an alternative approach: convert the barelegged woman to wearing stockings (or pantyhose). And it is something I have considered. I’m not quite sure why I’m so resistant to it. Maybe I think that a woman who is not wearing them somehow “in her being” lacks the kind of femininity and style I am looking for, and that if I have to “convert” someone it will be something of a battle, no matter how subtle. I’d rather approach someone who is “sufficiently feminine” in this respect, who dresses a certain way because she “loves” dressing that way – that it is “integrated into her soul” and who indeed dresses this way “for herself” – and therefore does not have to be converted, engendering possible interpersonal grievances for being somehow “made to change”. As I say, I’ve “got it” pretty bad – which I humorously call a malaise – hence my light-hearted appeal to “Doctors Nylon” on this site. But, hey, anything is possible.

Yes, trying to convert a woman is always a possibility, and perhaps I shy too much from doing it (though lord knows I’ve gone out with enough women in the past who were nylonless) but I find many women are resistant to “being converted” (so-called feminism and all – “I’m my own woman”, “nobody is going to tell me how to dress”). Therefore, I’d like to approach women who don’t need “to see the light”. I also find women who already dress this way sexier because they’ve “integrated” this style of dress as part of their core natures, as the people they truly are.

Bare legs: fashion trend or another step away from elegance?

– Last evening my wife and I were guests at a charitable-recognition dinner hosted at the mansion of one of Atlanta’s highest profile athletes.

The event was a fundraiser to help Atlanta’s youth, and the honorees included many of the city’s most recognized athletes, television, radio, and entertainment personalities. In short, the fund raisers billed the event as a “must to be seen”.

The event exceeded my expectations for fare and entertainment. My disappointment was seeing so many beautiful women bare legged. Few – my guess is one of five – were clad in sheer hosiery.

Only one woman in her 20s was among the ladies in hosiery. This beautiful lady was dressed in an above-the-knee silk dress that draped her very fit body elegantly. She wore strappy sandals and very sheer hosiery.

My wife commented during our ride home about the “hard femininity” of so many of those at the event. One guest even attended in the all-black look with black hip-hugging pants.

I found it ironic that so many women wore 3-4 inch slides to enhance their femininity. But, it didn’t seem to remove the “hard edge” look.

I seek feedback. Is the bare-legged look a fashion trend that will come around, or is it another step in the lazy, casual-downing movement? I’m worried I am part of a “damned” generation. I missed the elegance of garters and stockings when I came of age, because micro minis and convenience were being accommodated by tights/pantyhose.

Now it seems convenience is taking what softness was left in femininity. Are those of us on this forum “lost in the past”, and out of touch with reality? Or, are there real signs that fashion will return to elegance?

– Some various thoughts…

1) Increasingly I’m finding that men are dressing better than women! What a turnaround this is. There are still a lot of men wearing classic suit styles, only the cuts and colours are better than ever. And ironically the ‘casual workplace’ look I think has upgraded men’s wear. Dressy casual has ‘cottoned’ on and given men a higher standard for dressing, even if they don’t have to dress so formally – or ‘because’ they don’t have to dress so formally.

2) The bare-legged look seems to grow and grow, and appears also to grow in tandem with the ‘all black’ clothing look. The hosiery industry simply isn’t fighting back.

3) ‘Hard femininity’ – that’s a good term for it. I’m not quite sure what the appeal is here? I think a lot of younger women particularly want to appear tough – in their personality and style, and maybe current fashion trends manifest this.

– “Hard femininity” – that’s an excellent description!

When I walk through the city in the mornings – and Boston is lovely early in the day – I see all these young, attractive women, first with no stockings on their legs and secondly, with the most heinous, unflattering shoes as well! It almost seems as if they’re willing to wear what is popular, without giving a thought to “does it suit my body shape? ”

They seem as if a look from them would cut a jagged hole in you. They don’t have any softness to them, and the clothing nowadays seems to discourage any celebration of womanly curves – the things that drive men wild.

Do you see the interesting paradox? They want to attract attention, but not the kind that will think them soft and weak. As if femininity is a weakness. And then those same women lament that they can’t find a husband.

Women have been looking soft and feminine for generations and still getting stuff done. Do we have to sacrifice one for advances in the other?

I don’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade, but I think this no-hose look is one we’re all going to have to get used to.

– Luckily I live in the midwest where seeing beautiful young women in nylons is apparently more common than on the coasts. Last night, I counted a total of five women in a small bar that were wearing nylons. They were mostly nude in colour. My girlfriend’s were dark tan. There were even some open toed shoes with nylons. Not too bad at all.

– Being in the Atlanta area, and in business, but was not lucky enough to have an invitation to the event, I was saddened to hear about the state of affairs.

Yes, I agree with “hard femininity” and all it brings. I liken it to the backlash of an era when women were treated as frail things, however, that hasn’t happened since the late ’60s (in my opinion). This current generation and their fondness for the bare-legged look with unflattering shoes is hopefully a phase before we turn back toward elegance for women. Admittedly, it is a phase that is strong and has a lot of momentum.

I also think it is “coastal” (both). I have spent a lot of time in Texas and Arizona and even in the summer I saw plenty of attractive and stylish women (all ages) wearing nice hose and proper shoes.

It is sad and damnable that we will probably have this look for a while. Where I disagree is in blaming the look on hosiery companies not fighting back. I blame it on those psycho “fashion designers” who have every model bare legged in every show. They’re telling people this is fashionable.

– I agree. I think the targets for our real wrath should be the fashion designers. But I still scratch my head at the seeming inability of the hosiery industry to mount any type of counter-offensive. Don’t clothing manufacturers have any cachet with designers? Can’t they “pay” anyone to model their clothes? Can’t they “pay” for high-profile product placements in movies, for celebrity guests on talk shows? Can someone please explain this to me? I don’t understand why the hosiery industry rolls over and plays dead.

– You make a very good point I hadn’t considered. Even though the fashion designers are to blame, the hosiery industry doesn’t take a stab at it.

I don’t want to go off on a rant, but I have contacted a large number of hosiery manufacturers and simply put, they aren’t into “rocking the boat”. A number of responses were canned “thank you for contacting us” but an equal number were basically “we are considering it but don’t see it being a move at this time”.

What I took this to mean is simple retail business; “as long as the product is selling, don’t mess with it. ” These companies sell a lot of hosiery already. Spending more and promoting something that isn’t currently popular outside a niche is not something they are willing to do.

– I work with young ladies and yes, even here in New Zealand, I am disgusted by the way that they dress these days. Many of them don’t even know how to put on a skirt or a dress, let alone a pair of stockings. In fact, many girls in the town in which I live in wouldn’t even know what a pair of stockings looked like. Every now and again you will get someone who takes pride in being a lady by throwing away the hideous trousers that they are into these days and puts on a lovely dress or skirt and top, complete with stockings and heels.

– During the ’80s, I was a manager for a furniture manufacturing firm in High Point, NC.

Hosiery firms surrounded High Point, and I was surprised that few marketed their products direct, but simply manufactured to specs for “front companies” that followed fashion trends.

When the company I managed started manufacturing under license for designers, I understood the business model of hosiery firms.

The business model of reacting to fashion trends captured by designers is less risky than marketing your products. It is also more profitable to make exactly what a client orders to spec – no excess inventory.

The majors mostly market to support their retailers, (ie. Hanes co-op ads with their larger retailers) and their advertising contribution is directly tied to the size of the retailer’s order.

Dreaming of stockings

– I am having a tremendous phenomenon occur. Every few nights I dream about stockings and suspenders. This has been going on for several months. Does this happen to anyone else?

– It is odd that you mention this, because just last night I had a stocking-sighting dream in which I was part of some tour group, and somehow caught a sighting of the tour guide revealing a stocking top and garter straps. And all I could think of was how I just *had* to report this stocking sighting to the Stockings HQ discussion list! Alas, I can’t really remember any other details from the dream. It got a bit surreal (as most dreams do).

– I envy you those dreams! If you are the same woman who, a few days, wrote that you had been wearing stockings and suspenders for six months, thanks to the encouragement of a man in your life, I’d suggest your dreams are of awakening to full womanly sensuality. But I could be quite wrong! Anyway, keep dreaming of them!

– It looks like you might be right. Yes, I’ve been wearing them for only six months. There’s an interesting range of themes:

Exposure – I’m falling off things exposing my stockings and suspenders.

Intimacy – I’m in black corsetry with black stockings and kissing three different men.

Loss without them – I’m trying to get to events and cannot find my stockings.

And probably the best and most hilarious was a very simple dream where a pair of pantyhose on clothes pegs hovered beside my bed and then were suddenly sucked underneath to disappear forever into the darkness.

In any case, I am very appreciative to have been exposed to them.

The appeal of reinforced toes

– I have always loved reinforced toes – and it’s even better if they’re with reinforced heels – particularly poking through open toed shoes or sandals. As you know, many so-called contemporary fashion experts tell women these days to buy ‘nude-toe’ stockings because reinforced toes, they say, are ugly or tacky. In fact, CNN did a consumer segment on nylons about a year ago, and, among other things poked fun at reinforecd toes (ie. “aye, my toes are a different colour from the rest of my feet”!). They also evaluated the new form of “no toes” stockings to wear with sandals, so it looks like the woman is not wearing stockings at all because her toes are uncovered. Shriek! Of course you and I know reinforced toes are the sexiest part!

– I cannot believe I’m not alone! I have been told this fetish for large reinforced toes is one of a kind! I have collected nylons and pantyhose for years and am always looking for huge reinforced toes that are very dark and contrast with the leg. In the mid to late ’80s I sourced a brand of pantyhose called Albert’s and the style was “control top plus”. The “plus” was a very large heavier reinforced toe. Well once I saw these I purchased many pairs (about 350 pairs) and am now down to about 150 pairs and starting to hunt for a replacement. I have also noticed a move in the fashion world to eliminate the so called ugly or tacky reinforced toe. If we go back to the ’50s, women wore open toed mules with RHTs for all to see and it was not considered ugly.

– I love those reinforced toes (even when they’re not enormous). Too bad the trend seems to be away from them. It wasn’t enough to make “sandal toe” hose, now they’re coming out with a new pantyhose which has the toe section cut out altogether… probably the result of the preoccupation with feet that is rampant in the media today in America. They think it is sexier to expose the toes, but I feel just the opposite, and I’m sure you would agree…

There is a preoccupation in magazines about showing actresses with exposed feet. What’s with that? Is this a new form of foot fetish? But of course, of course, none of these women are ever shown in stockinged feet. Although at one time – perhaps as recently as five years ago – some would have been so depicted. I think this unfortunately is because current fashion trends consider it gauche to show exposed feet in nylons.
